Political participation is the basic prerequisite for a functioning democracy. Effective political action requires, in the words of the French philosopher Bruno Latour, a "description of the terrain". He is thus taking up the complaint books of the French Revolution and demanding that citizens must first formulate their ideas about the change in their territory before active political intervention. In his exhibition project "Cahiers de Doléances", Peter Rippl approaches Latour's proposal from an artistic perspective.
30 citizens from Offenbach are presented. Each portrait is assigned three self-selected key terms. These terms, which are either associatively descriptive or poetic, are effective on various levels and directly or indirectly formulate demands on politicians or fellow human beings.
