Long Takes. One Shots. No Cuts.

2 April 2025 - 1 February 2026
DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum

The projection exhibition “Long Takes. One Shots. No Cuts” celebrates one of cinema’s most masterful storytelling techniques—the long take. These striking sequences unfold in a single, uninterrupted shot, often featuring elaborate and highly dynamic camera movements. Spanning more than a century of film history, the exhibition traces early silent-era experiments with the “unchained camera” to the seamless (or seemingly seamless) one-shot films of the 21st century. It bridges arthouse and mainstream cinema, showcasing the evolution of cinematographic artistry. Designed as a labyrinth of screens and projections, the exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in breathtaking camera feats from over 100 years of filmmaking. This layered architecture of moving images transforms the space into a cinematic spectacle, offering a fresh perspective on film as an art form—an unforgettable audiovisual experience for audiences of all ages.
